Grades 10-12 Ms. Tao and Alma are professional troubleshooters in a world where demons become supernatural terrors responsible for an uptick in missing persons, hauntings at a local graveyard, and a host of other mysterious cases few others would take up. But, depending on the client and the price they're willing to pay, the duo at Gokurakugai Troubleshooters will take up the case and bring their own brand of otherworldly talents to exact justice. The presence of alcohol, cigarettes, and frequent swearing elevates this title to more mature audiences, as well as heavier concepts of murder and illustrations of hanging corpses. In this first volume, Sano expertly builds up cases for Ms. Tao and Alma with a supporting cast full of emotional backstories and heavily detailed illustrations, only to pull the rug out from readers with climatic fight sequences or devastatingly tragic moments for the leads to confront. Readers of Chainsaw Man or Kaiju No. 8 looking for another action-packed demon-fighting story might gravitate towards this series.
